In an attempt to get my booty (and pot belly, side creases, flabby arms) in shape and get back down to the weight I was a few years ago, I started doing
P90X on Monday the 27th. If you've never heard of it or seen the infomercial, it's an "extreme" home training system with 12 different workout DVDs. I appreciate this a lot because I don't like running, I don't like going to the gym, and I don't like working out to the same thing every day. I get bored and give up. This has me doing a different workout 6 days a week. It's really meant for those who are already physically fit, and want to really get ripped up (think Brad Pitt in "Snatch") but I just decided that I, not only don't want to buy another program, but can just do what I'm capable of and work my way up.
11 days in and all is going great! I'm sore every day (wow my biceps are especially feeling it today) and have already lost about 5 lbs. I get up early (which is HUGE for me) and get it done before C gets up. I move the coffee table over and push the couch back and have a perfect little space. The chin-up bar is hanging on the bedroom door, and on the days I use that the ambient noise machine blocks out all my noise. He doesn't wake up at all. Haha. Now don't think I can do even 1 chinup. Not even close. But I'm getting stronger and stronger and can't wait till I get to that point!
I'm also counting calories, which in itself is a little bit of a project! I have an Excel spreadsheet that I fill in and refer to to make sure I'm within weight loss range. You don't realize how easy it is to load up on calories until you really pay attention! I feel like I'm eating like a bird compared to how I used to, but the amazing thing is that I don't ever feel like I'm not eating enough and I never get hunger pangs. I don't eat any big meals and instead just graze throughout the day on things like Grape Nuts with Rice Dream, fruit, veggies, soy yogurt, Larabars, etc. and usually something like canned beans and salad at night. I even treat myself to 3 pieces of a really good dark chocolate each day: 84 calories in those 3 bites of heaven. It does make for a little bit of a challenge eating at home, but we've been fine just fending for ourselves. He's been working late anyway, so I've usually eaten before he gets home regardless.
And don't forget H2O. I drink it all day so am getting up at least every 30 minutes at work. Haha. I've read that "8x8" really isn't necessary; more like 6 glasses, and the water that's in other beverages and food counts too. Even coffee. :)
I will post my measurement differences once the time comes - but no photos. Don't want to scare anyone away. Haha! (At least not the befores.)
